Inlays and onlays are porcelain restorations that replace tooth structure lost due to tooth decay, attrition, or trauma. If a filling cannot adequately restore a tooth, but an entire dental crown would be excessive, an inlay or onlay may be the best solution.
Dr. Starr's inlays and onlays are custom-crafted for each patient in his onsite lab, with careful consideration of bite patterns, and the shape and shade of the tooth. Probably the most important reason for fabrication of an inlay or onlay instead of a full crown is that the inlay / onlay allows Dr. Starr or Dr. Orta to preserve remaining tooth structure thereby increasing the longevity of one's teeth. The procedure is less invasive.
